Mr Anthony Rotman

Anthony Rotman is a Melbourne-trained ENT, Head and Neck Surgeon with fellowship training in laryngology, specialising in disorders of the voice, airway and swallowing. He joined Melbourne Voice Analysis Centre in 2020 following completion of two advanced laryngology fellowships in the United Kingdom, bringing expertise in contemporary multidisciplinary voice, airway and swallowing care.
Anthony completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2009 before undertaking residency training at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy in 2011 then commenced specialist training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, which he completed in 2019. During his training he worked across major Victorian hospitals including the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Monash Health, The Alfred and the Royal Children’s Hospital, gaining broad experience in both adult and paediatric ENT.
Following Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Anthony undertook two advanced laryngology fellowships in the United Kingdom. His first was at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s National Centre for Airway Reconstruction in London, where he gained expertise in the management of complex voice, airway and swallowing disorders using both endoscopic and open surgical techniques. He also trained with the multidisciplinary upper airway team at the Royal Brompton Hospital, developing particular expertise in chronic cough and inducible laryngeal obstruction. His second fellowship, at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, further developed his experience in office-based laryngology and minimally invasive procedures for voice and swallowing disorders.
Anthony has a particular clinical interest in occupational and professional voice disorders, neurological voice disorders, chronic cough, inducible laryngeal obstruction, benign vocal fold lesions, swallowing disorders and complex airway conditions. He enjoys working as part of the multidisciplinary team at MVAC, collaborating closely with the Centre’s speech pathologists to integrate laryngological assessment with comprehensive physiological voice evaluation, supporting accurate diagnosis and individualised management.
In addition to his work at MVAC, Anthony is a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Monash Health, where he contributes to the multidisciplinary Laryngology Service, is Co-supervisor of ENT Training, and performs a broad range of adult and paediatric ENT procedures. He also consults and operates privately at several Melbourne hospitals.
Anthony is committed to evidence-based practice and clinical research. He is Principal Investigator on a Passe & Williams Foundation Clinical Research Grant investigating novel diagnostic approaches for inflammatory laryngeal disease and has published a growing body of peer-reviewed research in laryngology and ENT. He regularly presents at national scientific meetings and, together with Associate Professor Paul Paddle, is Co-Convenor of the Melbourne Laryngeal Surgery Course. Anthony has also served as Vice-President of the Australian Voice Association and is a member of the Laryngology Society of Australasia and the International Association of TransVoice Surgeons. His ongoing research, teaching and professional leadership reflect his commitment to continually advancing the assessment and management of voice, airway and swallowing disorders.
Outside medicine, Anthony enjoys cooking, playing soccer and spending time with his family.
